We accepted a mission from a Thai government agency and other organizations to visit Japan, and conducted company tours and training in Mie Prefecture on the themes of carbon neutrality and resource recycling.

The International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) accepted a four-day mission to Japan from Monday, October 28 to Thursday, October 31, consisting of the Department of Works, Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand ("DIW") and other Thai government agencies.

The purpose of this mission is to provide Thai government agencies and industry-related organizations with information on good practices and administrative initiatives related to carbon neutrality (CN), resource recycling, and waste management in Japanese industry, and to provide opportunities to exchange opinions with companies and other parties.

In May 2024, ICETT and DIW signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in promoting carbon neutrality in Thai industry, and the acceptance of this mission was part of the cooperative activities based on the MoU.

About the Mission to Thailand and Japan

  • Acceptance period (period of stay in Mie Prefecture):

    Monday, October 28, 2024 through Thursday, October 31, 2024 at noon

Number of participants: 23 (including Royal Thai Embassy staff and accompanying interpreters)

Composed of: DIW, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand (Department of Pollution Control, Department of Climate Change and Environment), Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Kasetsart University, Chulalongkorn University, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), etc.

    Monday, October 28: Company visits (all day, 2 food-related companies)

    Tuesday, October 29: Company visits (two companies in total, one related to bearing parts and the other to plastic recycling)

    Visit to Mie Prefectural Government (courtesy call to the Governor, who is also the President of ICETT)

    Wednesday, October 30: Company visit (1 company related to chemical industry), training program (for details, see Attachment 2 linked below)

    Thursday, October 31, am: Training Program (see link Exhibit 2 below for details)

Future developments, initiatives, etc.

ICETT and DIW plan to hold local seminars for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand to promote GHG emissions accounting and to study and implement specific reduction measures in order to achieve carbon neutrality in the country.
