Report】The first session of the 2024 Glocal Human Resource Development Course was held.
ICETT has been commissioned by Mie Prefecture to hold a series of three "Glocal Human Resource Development Courses" with the aim of broadening the international perspectives of Mie's future leaders and fostering glocal human resources by holding courses that will raise international awareness and sensibilities among young people in Mie Prefecture and provide them with an opportunity to look to the world. The aim is to broaden the international perspectives of young people, who are the future of Mie, and to develop glocal human resources.
We are pleased to report that the first course was held on October 14 in a face-to-face format and on November 8 in an online format.
Part 1: "To the Next Generation of Pioneers Connecting the World and Mie! -Let's learn communication to open the door to different cultures".
Lecturers based in Mie Prefecture who are active globally spoke from various perspectives on cross-cultural understanding and communication methods.

- Facilitator: Mr. Masato Tsutsumi, International Cooperation Promotion Officer, JICA Mie Desk
In the first part, Mr. Tsutsumi of JICA's Mie Desk spoke about the importance of self-disclosure based on his experience working overseas. In the second part, Mr. Hayano, who is involved in multicultural community building, introduced how knowing the actual situation of the community leads to multicultural conviviality.
The third part of the meeting was an exchange of opinions with the participants, where they presented their goals for the future and what they would like to practice.

The lecturer, Mr. Minamikawa, started with his own original experiences as a young backpacker and talked about his ideas and market-in approach in spreading Japanese food culture around the world in his business.
Participants commented that the program gave them the courage to go abroad and that they would like to actively look at local resources.

The first lecture provided participants with a good opportunity to think about the cross-cultural understanding and communication methods necessary for global activities, as well as to think deeply about their own career paths.

Second Lecture: "Attractiveness of Global Companies that Aim to Realize a Sustainable Society and Environment!

Description: In addition to an introduction to the company's environmental initiatives and overseas business, including research into synthesizing biodegradable plastic from soy sauce by-products, and a tour of the factory, we will also learn about the company's efforts to promote cultural exchange, whose mission is to "build a bridge between Thailand and Japan through food".
Third Lecture: "Considering Global Warming, First Steps for the Next Generation of Leaders"

Place: Mie Prefectural Education and Culture Hall, Conference Room 5
Description: The lecturers will introduce the mechanisms of global warming and extreme weather events, and sustainable agricultural technologies to adapt to global warming. The lecturers will also talk about the mindset and career path to turn risks into opportunities.
