Report】The second session of the 2024 Glocal Human Resources Development Course, a project commissioned by Mie Prefecture, was held.

ICETT has been commissioned by Mie Prefecture to hold the "Glocal Human Resource Development Course," a series of three lectures aimed at broadening the international perspectives of Mie's future leaders and fostering glocal human resources by providing young people in Mie Prefecture with an opportunity to enhance their international awareness and sensibilities and to open their eyes to the world. The purpose of the course is to broaden the international perspectives of young people, who are the future of Mie, and to develop glocal human resources.
We are pleased to report that the second lecture was held on December 26 at the Matsusaka Plant of Yamamori Co.

Part 2: "-A look at the appeal of companies that are active on a global scale in their quest to realize a sustainable society and environment! ~"

Date: Thursday, December 26, 2024, 13:00-14:50

Location: Yamamori Corporation Matsusaka Plant

Lecturer: Mr. Takafumi Miyake, Director and General Manager of Development Laboratory, Yamamori Corporation

In the second course, participants visited the Matsusaka Plant of Yamamori Corporation and learned about the company's progressive approach to environmental and global development through lectures and a plant tour.

On the environmental side, he introduced efforts to synthesize biodegradable plastic from soy sauce by-products in order to solve the marine plastic problem. He also spoke about the future prospects for the soy sauce industry as a whole.

In addition, as part of the company's mission to "build a bridge between Thailand and Japan through food," Mr. Miyake introduced various events in both countries and research on the cultivation of Thai vegetables in Japan. I am not very good at English before I was transferred to Thailand. Mr. Miyake was actually not very good at English before he was transferred to Thailand. Even so, he actively communicated and served as a factory manager in Thailand for seven years. I can handle it," he said! Take the first step" and "Embrace diversity." Based on his own experience, he gave advice to the participants.

Participants further learned about onsite initiatives through factory tours and were exposed to a variety of opinions through group discussions, which seemed to increase their motivation toward becoming glocal human resources.

Participants commented that they learned that they could put their passion for product development in Thailand only because they had been posted to Thailand and experienced the cultural and religious differences with Japan, and that they were impressed by how their experience of living and working in an unfamiliar land had changed their communication after returning home.

Through the second lecture, it was a good opportunity to learn about the efforts toward a sustainable society and the mindset to be globally active.
