Purpose of Establishment

The rapid development of human society and economic activities has brought about remarkable changes in the environment surrounding the earth, such as global warming and loss of biodiversity, making the preservation of the global environment an urgent issue facing humanity.
Against this backdrop, Japan is expected to make full use of its accumulated experience and technologies in addressing environmental issues to proactively contribute to global environmental conservation and enable sustainable economic development in cooperation with other countries.
The International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) was established with the cooperation of industry, government, academia, and local communities with the aim of improving environmental problems in Japan and other countries and contributing to global environmental conservation and global economic development through the transfer of technologies related to environmental conservation owned by Japan and other countries to other regions.
