Greetings from the Chairman of the Board of Directors

Katsuyuki Ichimi, Chairman of the Board
(Governor of Mie Prefecture)
ICETT was established in 1990 with the cooperation of industry, government, academia, and local communities for the purpose of improving environmental problems in other countries and Japan through technology transfer related to environmental conservation, thereby contributing to global environmental conservation and sustainable global economic development.
Since its establishment, the JCRE has been involved in a variety of activities, such as inviting trainees from overseas for training and supporting overseas expansion of companies with unique environmental technologies, in order to transfer Japan's environmental conservation technologies developed in the process of reducing pollution in Yokkaichi and other areas to developing countries.
In recent years, the situation surrounding the global environment has changed dramatically. In particular, climate change due to the effects of global warming and marine plastic litter, which has a significant impact on ecosystems and the marine environment, have become urgent issues that require action in many countries, including Japan.
In response to these issues, the government has formulated the "2050 Carbon Neutral Declaration (2020)" and the "Plastic Resource Recycling Strategy (2019)" and is in the process of working to resolve these issues.
In Mie Prefecture, in light of the national government's Green Growth Strategy and other factors, efforts to decarbonize based on the Mie Prefecture Comprehensive Plan for Global Warming Countermeasures and the Mie Prefecture SDGs Future City Plan, including the "Zero Emissions Mie" project, are being promoted in order to help local industries grow.
In light of these global circumstances surrounding the global environment and corresponding national and local trends, ICETT has recently positioned "realization of a decarbonized society" and "promotion of plastic resource recycling" as priority strategies and will promote specific initiatives.
In our efforts, we hope to utilize the domestic and international networks we have cultivated through our past activities to contribute to solving issues facing these regions, with a focus on Southeast Asian countries and Pacific island countries.
ICETT will continue to contribute to the conservation of the global environment and environmental improvement in other countries by utilizing the knowledge and experience accumulated through 30 years of activities and by further deepening cooperation with various parties in industry, academia, and government as a practical group for technology transfer for global environmental conservation.
We look forward to your continued cooperation and support.
